Job Summary
The Power and Recovery Operations Supervisor is a key member of the Paper Excellence team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Power and Recovery Department. This role requires a strong leader who can motivate and direct a team of operators to achieve established objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Power and Recovery Department, including the Recovery Boiler and all associated equipment.
- Lead and direct a team of operators to achieve established objectives, including production targets and safety standards.
- Monitor and control energy consumption, and implement strategies to reduce consumption and improve energy utilization.
- Coordinate daily maintenance work with the maintenance department, and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and operated.
- Participate in departmental projects, and contribute to the development of operating, capital, and maintenance budgets.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and address and report on all environmental incidents.
- Develop and implement effective safety procedures, and conduct regular safety audits and incident investigations.
- Provide coaching and training to operators to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and control personnel-related costs, including time management, attendance, training, loss time incidents, and overtime.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with the team, and ensure that team members are empowered, encouraged, and rewarded for their contributions and performance.
- Attract and retain people with key skills, and focus on proficiency training and career development.
Qualifications
- Valid Inter-provincial or Second Class Power Engineer Certificate.
- Minimum five (5) years experience with high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment, Pulp mill experience preferred.
- Effectively communicate the operation of the Power and Recovery Department functions as it applies to mill production processes.
- Demonstrated leadership in problem-solving techniques, troubleshoot and resolve technical, operation and personnel matters.
- Effective communications and interpersonal skills to respond to internal customer needs and enhance team work.
- Combination of equivalent experience and education.
