Role and Responsibilities

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will report to the Planning & Schedule Management Lead for the GO Expansion Program. This role is part of the Integrated Program Delivery Team (IPDT) and is responsible for delivering and exceeding client expectations in the following areas:

  • Managing IPD Best Practices in contract management
  • Engaging stakeholders on contract transformation under the PDP/IPDT model
  • Managing IPD practices in procedures, processes, and training
  • Managing change in model and structure related to planning and schedule management
Specific Responsibilities

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will:

  • Support the review and update of existing planning and schedule processes and procedures, aligning with IPDT model best practices
  • Develop and implement program-wide project requirements for planning and scheduling, improving consistency and supporting program delivery
  • Develop and deploy a program contingency management process
  • Manage planning and schedule management IPDT procedures, systems, and toolsets for program management of contracts
  • Support a program-wide view of planning and schedule considerations, ensuring consistency of approach
  • Support projects and their supply chains to deliver efficiently and effectively, removing consistent causes of cost and schedule overrun
  • Manage consistency of delivery approach, standardizing program and project procedures, ensuring integration and compliance with statutory and Metrolinx requirements
  • Manage and provide for 'best for program' decision making, creating consistent and real-time reporting linked to the program control centre
  • Support program-level risk management, identifying and mitigating risks/issues and optimizing opportunities
  • Support stakeholder engagement at a program level, as required by the stakeholder management plan
Technical Management Expertise

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will provide consistent management in planning and schedule management to program management stakeholders, demonstrating experience in contract administration and contract management of large capital programs.

They will also provide technical expertise in planning and scheduling, supporting the development of innovative, methodical, and robust solutions and procedures to resolve difficult contract issues, disputes, and claims.

Leadership Behavioral Qualities

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will lead by example, taking responsibility for their actions and demonstrating a better perspective, exploring innovative approaches in pursuit of a better way.

They will also present clearly and communicate effectively, respectfully listening to others and considering all views presented.

Qualifications

The Planning and Scheduling Manager will have a degree or equivalent with professional work experience in commercial and contract management disciplines.

They will also have 10 years of planning and schedule management experience in rail and transit projects, with knowledge and experience in IPDT delivery model, holding or working towards professional qualification, and knowledge and experience in Power BI.
