Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the production activities within their department, ensuring that all processes are executed with the utmost quality, safety, and efficiency. This role requires close collaboration with various departments to optimize production schedules and enhance operational performance.

Safety Responsibilities:

  • Foster a strong safety culture among team members.
  • Establish and uphold rigorous safety standards and expectations.
  • Enhance safety compliance through regular assessments and improvements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards to prevent accidents.
  • Encourage open communication regarding safety practices and suggestions.
  • Collaborate with safety and quality teams to ensure all operational instructions reflect safe practices and appropriate personal protective equipment.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that the department consistently meets or surpasses customer quality expectations.
  • Achieve targeted scores in weekly quality inspections.
  • Guarantee that no product leaves the department that does not meet personal quality standards.
  • Work alongside the quality team to maintain comprehensive and precise operational instructions for training purposes.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and standardization.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Hold the team accountable for meeting production goals.
  • Document and analyze downtime causes to address underlying issues.
  • Encourage team leaders to identify efficiencies in their workflows.
  • Partner with management and engineering teams to streamline production processes.
  • Eliminate barriers that hinder team performance by providing necessary resources and support.

Rework Management:

  • Monitor rework activities to ensure resources are allocated effectively.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to reduce rework.

Training and Development:

  • Assess employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure effective pairing of trainees with experienced trainers.
  • Thoroughly communicate safety, quality, and efficiency expectations for each task.
  • Adopt a training approach that considers the perspective of new employees.
  • Facilitate comprehensive cross-training within the department.

Coaching and Mentorship:

  • Recognize employees with potential for further development.
  • Provide mentorship to those seeking to expand their skills.
  • Support the growth of future leaders within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Experience with quality management systems.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles is advantageous.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills through root cause analysis.
  • Proficient computer skills and aptitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities.

Work Environment:

This position requires in-person presence at the manufacturing facility. The successful candidate should be prepared to commute reliably.
