Parent/Family Engagement Specialist

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Parent/Family Engagement Cultural Diversity Specialist. This role will play a critical part in supporting the prevention of youth substance use by working with parents and families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement culturally appropriate workshops, presentations, and events to support parents and families in preventing youth substance use.
- Partner with community organizations, schools, and healthcare providers to identify trends, needs, and priorities related to youth substance use.
- Coordinate outreach efforts to strengthen parent/family awareness, knowledge, and skills in preventing adolescent substance use.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide support and resources to families affected by substance use.
- Bachelor's degree in a Social Services discipline from a recognized program.
- Two years of recent experience providing substance use-related support to culturally diverse youth and families.
- Valid BC Driver's License and ability to travel locally.
- Thorough knowledge of child/youth care, youth development, and behavior management as it relates to addiction and substance use.
- Knowledge of cultural diversity in youth and families, and culturally safe ways of engaging.
- Knowledge of community development, adult education, and health promotion practices.
