Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Project Team Lead, the Grader Operator plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Team Lead and General Foreman in achieving project objectives and daily tasks. This role is vital to uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP. Please note that this is a safety-sensitive role that necessitates successful completion of pre-employment and pre-access assessments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate and maintain the grader to meet operational deadlines efficiently.
  • Coordinate machine movements in accordance with hand and audio signals from team members.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip, post-trip, and walk-around inspections before equipment operation.
  • Utilize the grader for various tasks including terrain modification, site preparation, soil management, reclamation, and maintenance of haul roads.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating the grader in close proximity to other vehicles and personnel.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, utilize personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure fitness for duty.
  • Assist other operators and laborers as required.
  • Carry out additional construction-related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
  • A valid class five (5) driver's license is essential.
  • A three-year Drivers Abstract is required.
  • CSTS and OSSA or BSO or CSO certifications are necessary.
  • Ground Disturbance II certification is required; First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Strong focus and attention to detail are essential.
  • Effective time management skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.

Employment Details:

This is a temporary position located at a remote site. The work schedule consists of 14 days on and 7 days off, including both day and night shifts. Camp accommodations and flights are provided from designated locations.
