Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health and Safety Specialist to manage the safety day-to-day operations of our assigned project sites and regions. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating safety-related education and training, on-site engagement to influence commitment from all workers to comply with all HSE requirements, and supporting and leading HSE for specific operational projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate safety-related education and training to ensure compliance with all HSE requirements
- Engage with workers on-site to promote a culture of safety and influence commitment to HSE requirements
- Support and lead HSE for specific operational projects, providing industry experience and specialized knowledge
- Partner with operations to develop and implement effective HSE messaging and communications
- Analyze data from reports to review existing preventative programs and make recommendations for new initiatives
- Collaborate with field leaders on site inspections and provide guidance on HSE matters
- Attend all HSE applicable meetings and provide updates on safety performance
- Support operations and Senior Leadership in managing risk by analyzing and interpreting data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and enhancing safe work procedures
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Health & Safety or a related field
- Previous 5-10 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in the construction industry
- Credentials to support skillset, such as WHIMIS, First Aid/CPR, and Working at Heights
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships
- Well-organized individual with the ability to effectively set and manage competing priorities
- Comfortable working in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment
- Resourceful, energetic, and able to operate independently with confidence
- Clean driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites
