Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Hardware and Software Support Specialist to join our team at York University. The successful candidate will provide technical support for our central and local academic, administrative, teaching spaces, and business desktop computer hardware, operating systems, and related applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide IT hardware and software technical support for desktop computer hardware, operating systems, and related applications.
  • Setup and troubleshoot hardware, software, systems, and other related applications and components.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Client Technical Services to ensure effective technical support.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base.
  • Stay up-to-date with computer system developments and advancements.
Requirements
  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • At least two years of current and direct experience in providing IT hardware and software technical support.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and exercise tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong service orientation and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Advanced technical skills in MS Windows, MS Word, Excel, and other related applications.
  • Intermediate technical skills in MAC OS, Conferencing Systems, and Web Design.
  • Basic technical skills in Linux and various programming languages.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering support to commercial/retail operations.
  • Applied knowledge and experience with SCCM.
