Position: Family Lawyer

Location: Multiple

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Family Lawyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage family law files independently, handling a wide range of matters including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division.
  • Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials, providing expert representation to clients.
  • Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications, demonstrating strong writing and advocacy skills.
  • Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials, utilizing effective negotiation and advocacy techniques.
  • Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end, ensuring timely and efficient resolution.
  • Utilize experience in general civil litigation as an asset, applying knowledge and skills to benefit clients.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of current experience in British Columbia family law practice, with a strong understanding of local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
  • Strong judgment, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Desire to become part of the community served, with a commitment to providing exceptional service and support.
  • Enthusiasm for growing practice and working towards partnership, with a strong focus on client satisfaction and success.
  • Ability to live in Vancouver or Victoria and commute to the other location 2-3 days per week, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work arrangements.

Compensation:

  • Base salary depending on the year of call, with opportunities for growth and advancement.
