Job Title: Part-Time Residential Counsellor

Broadview Village, a leading provider of support services for adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Residential Counsellor to join our team.

Job Summary:

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about creating and implementing programming that promotes personal growth, advocacy, and community integration. As a Residential Counsellor, you will work collaboratively with our team to provide support and guidance to individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individual support plans to promote personal development and advocacy
  • Provide support and guidance to residents in areas such as personal care, hygiene, and community integration
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Administer medication as required
  • Provide orientation and support to new staff members, students, and volunteers
Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to adapt to changing circumstances. You will be exposed to various physical and emotional demands, including exposure to dirt, bodily fluids, and noise.

Qualifications and Education:
  • Completed Developmental Services Worker Diploma or related degree/diploma
  • Valid and current Standard First Aid Certificate and CPR Level C Certificate
  • Ability to achieve Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificate
Experience and Knowledge:
  • Minimum 6-12 months' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges
  • Experience with implementing individual support plans and medication administration
Skills and Capabilities:
  • Strong counselling and de-escalation support skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive information
