Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at William Osler Health System. As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient-focused care to patients in the Birthing Unit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and effective nursing care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
- Comply with policies and procedures related to observations and ensure patient safety and well-being.
- Practice professional, patient-centered care, creating a therapeutic relationship and environment.
- Provide care in a compassionate and caring manner, respecting diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Implement infection control and prevention measures, responding to emergency situations as needed.
- Provide health teaching to patients and families, ensuring continuity of care in the community.
- Clinical experience within the last five years, with a minimum of two years in obstetrics.
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate.
- Completion of Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario breastfeeding e-learning course.
- Current Fetal Health Surveillance certificate.
- Obstetrics Nursing certificate or enrollment within six months of hire.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Sound knowledge of nursing process, theory, and responsibilities to the nursing profession.
- BCLS certification.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
- Knowledge of patient and family-centered care.
- Experience with patient and family health teaching.
- Leadership and facilitation skills.
- Excellent customer service, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability to work in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
- Exemplary clinical practice within an inter-professional team.
- Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions.
- Excellent physical assessment skills.
- Ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Demonstration of Osler's Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation, and Collaboration.
- Ability to travel and work between all Osler sites.
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record.
- Knowledge and understanding of information systems and technology.
Hours: Currently days/nights, 12 hour shifts including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements).
