Job Title: Building Official

Destinationone Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Building Official to join our team. As a Building Official, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with building codes, regulations, and standards in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Inspect buildings and structures to identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Enforce building codes, regulations, and standards through inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  • Provide guidance and education to builders, contractors, and property owners on building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Collaborate with other government agencies, building officials, and industry stakeholders to ensure consistency and compliance with building codes.
Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply building codes, regulations, and standards in a fair and impartial manner.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with builders, contractors, property owners, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve compliance with building codes.
  • Ability to analyze complex building plans and specifications to identify potential safety hazards and ensure compliance with building codes.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • BOABC Level 3 Qualification.
  • Registration as a Building Official with the BOABC.
  • Driver's Licence for the Province of British Columbia.
