Faculty, Structural/Timber Engineering Specialist

Job Summary

BCIT's School of Construction and Environment is seeking a regular, full-time (1.0 FTE) Faculty who is an enthusiastic, team-oriented professional with expertise in structural engineering/timber engineering to strengthen BCIT's civil engineering program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach the suite of courses related to structural engineering and timber engineering.
  • Teach and/or assist in other civil engineering courses.

Qualifications

  • Current Professional Engineer registration in Canada or the U.S.A.
  • Graduate degree in structural engineering or civil engineering.
  • Minimum four years of applicable design or construction experience related to civil engineering in North America.
  • Industry experience and knowledge in timber engineering, construction management, and/or geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
  • Working knowledge of relevant and current civil engineering design software.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Experience in training, developing or mentoring technologists or junior engineers.
