About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced MongoDB Database Administrator to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation and performance of our critical databases. You will work closely with both onshore and offshore teams to maintain high availability, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate effectively with offshore colleagues to ensure seamless handover of tasks and responsibilities.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of distributed replica sets and shards within MongoDB, ensuring redundancy and data integrity.
- Execute upgrades for MongoDB databases to the latest versions, maintaining system stability and leveraging new features.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear and concise language for end-users, fostering effective communication and understanding.
- Develop innovative solutions to data challenges, employing techniques that deliver long-term success and optimize database performance.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices in emerging technologies, integrating them into database design and architecture.
- Promote a collaborative and positive work environment, fostering teamwork and knowledge sharing among team members.
- Provide recommendations for performance tuning and enhancements to existing databases, ensuring optimal efficiency and scalability.
What You'll Bring
- A minimum of 4-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator specializing in MongoDB technology. Experience with PostgreSQL or other database technologies is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to plan and execute strategic database activities, including resolving complex issues effectively.
- Expertise in performance tuning and optimization techniques for MongoDB databases.
- Strong understanding of server configuration and fine-tuning for enhanced performance.
- Experience implementing robust backup and recovery procedures to ensure data protection and business continuity.
- Proficiency in automating repetitive database tasks using scripting or automation tools.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB Atlas, including deployment, management, and monitoring.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Knowledge of security best practices, including audit trails, encryption at rest, and access control measures.
- Experience with MongoDB installation and configuration within Docker environments.
- Proven ability to implement multi-data center replica sets and shards in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with Ops Manager for monitoring, backup, automation, and alert setup.
