Production Control Specialist
- Overview: This role involves supporting various aspects of the Production Control division. The principles of Toyota's Production System guarantee that both customer expectations and manufacturing requirements are fulfilled.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely delivery of customer orders and address any customer-related issues.
- Track customer orders in relation to component availability, machinery capacity, and procurement agreements.
- Develop and distribute the weekly production schedule based on customer demand forecasts.
- Oversee raw material inventory levels necessary for production processes.
- Manage the flow of materials from planned production orders to the shipment of sales orders to clients.
- Supervise Oracle's inventory levels and identify potential issues that may affect production.
- Analyze inventory discrepancies, conduct root cause investigations, and adjust cycle counts as needed.
- Keep track of all supplier short shipments.
- Gather and compile data for management reporting.
- Collaborate with management and engineering teams to assess and advise on both short-term and long-term production capacities to reduce overdue orders and unnecessary capital expenditures.
- Utilize the Kanban system to uphold lean inventory levels and Just-In-Time (JIT) practices.
- Conduct cycle counts or visual management of finished goods inventory.
- Input and maintain part details for both new and existing customers.
- Record and manage customer releases.
- Calculate and input any specific or unusual production needs to support sales forecasts.
- Ensure all shipping documentation complies with TS16949 standards.
- Qualifications:
Education:
- A degree in Business, Operations/Materials Management, or a related field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
- 1 to 4 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing setting is required.
- Experience in the automotive sector is preferred.
- Familiarity with Toyota launch systems and requirements is advantageous.
Skills:
- Basic mathematical skills are essential (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Understanding of basic geometry and the ability to interpret charts and graphs is necessary.
- Capability to read and comprehend engineering documents, including automotive drawings and Engineering Change Instructions (ECI).
- A general understanding of the Toyota Production System (TPS) is preferred.
- Knowledge of seat, welding, door, carpet, and headliner processes is beneficial.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision.
- Adaptability to a fast-paced, multicultural work environment.
- Proficient in maintaining records and preparing reports.
- Willingness to be flexible in response to changing production demands.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Availability to work fixed or rotating shifts, including potential overtime.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and navigate diverse challenges.
Language Proficiency:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
- Experience with MRP and EDI systems is beneficial.
- Work Environment:
Office: Open office layout with moderate noise levels.
Plant: Standard automotive manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required in specific areas.
Travel: Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time is necessary.
- Physical Requirements:
While performing job duties, the employee must be able to talk, see, and hear. The role requires walking, sitting, and standing, with occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
