Position Overview: Outreach Doula, Indigenous Health

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is on the lookout for an Outreach Doula specializing in Indigenous Health to enhance their Indigenous Health Homelessness initiative. This role is ideal for individuals dedicated to providing support to Indigenous populations during the crucial perinatal phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in outreach efforts to deliver cultural assistance and facilitate navigation through health systems for Indigenous clients.
  • Collaborate with diverse partners to elevate health outcomes for Indigenous individuals facing or at risk of homelessness.
  • Provide non-clinical support throughout the perinatal journey and aid families in their transitions.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of a recognized Doula Training Program along with relevant experience in working with Indigenous communities.
  • Familiarity with perinatal healthcare delivery systems and cultural traditions.
  • Awareness of trauma-informed care principles and the impact of systemic racism within healthcare.
