Position Overview

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be an integral member of our engineering team, focusing on the design and development of advanced marine navigation and bridge systems tailored for government and naval applications. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of system requirements and the ability to lead technical initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate system designs and establish architectural frameworks, ensuring all interfaces and specifications are clearly defined.
  • Conduct thorough requirement analysis, maintaining traceability and documentation of system requirements.
  • Oversee the design and integration of subsystems, ensuring cohesive functionality across the entire system.
  • Identify and resolve any deficiencies in program support, proposing effective corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with government standards, including Military and IMO regulations, throughout the design process.
  • Incorporate logistics support considerations into system design to enhance availability and reliability.
  • Review and address obsolescence issues, recommending necessary design modifications.
  • Develop innovative design concepts and prepare technical proposals in response to Requests for Quotation (RFQ).
  • Lead customer design reviews and acceptance events, ensuring alignment with client expectations.
  • Facilitate system integration tests and acceptance trials at client facilities, documenting procedures and outcomes.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, and resource allocation, providing regular updates to management on progress and risks.
  • Collaborate effectively within a team environment while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate the activities of team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, with at least 6 years in Systems Engineering; experience in marine electronics and integrated bridge systems is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the defense or government sector, particularly within the naval ship domain, is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing engineering teams on complex projects.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering engineering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of marine navigation systems and tactical sensors.
  • In-depth knowledge of Systems Engineering principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Experience in network design and architecture is beneficial.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with requirements and verification management tools, such as DOORS, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of safety engineering and human factors engineering is advantageous.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a relevant security clearance.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
