Position Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to fill the role of Operations Manager within our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations by organizing, directing, and supervising the workforce assigned to the Area Maintenance Contract, including foremen and maintenance personnel.
  • Manage operational procedures, scheduling, cost management, and ensure compliance with national, local, and company standards while establishing appropriate manpower levels.
  • Encourage cost-effective practices and promote teamwork, while monitoring the utilization of manpower and equipment for optimal productivity.
  • Ensure the effective management of all field equipment assigned to the Patrol Centre.
  • Assist in preparing Minor Capital Works, Work Orders, and Extra Work as needed, and manage field operations post-approval in response to regulatory requests.
  • Handle the preparation of subcontracts and manage subcontractors following contract awards.
  • Provide administrative support, including staff recruitment and management.
  • Approve time sheets, manage overtime assignments, oversee expense accounts, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Utilize the Quality Management System to ensure project quality and goal achievement.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of Grade 12 education, with a preference for further education in a related field from a Technical College or University.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Road and Bridge Maintenance Standards within the context of Ontario's privatized maintenance environment.
  • Possession of a valid DZ license with proven experience.
  • Several years of demonstrated experience in managing daily operations of maintenance crews.
  • Proficiency in computer applications related to spreadsheets, cost accounting, project management, and word processing.
  • Understanding of Provincial Commercial Regulatory and Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with WSIB rules and regulations.
  • Strong supervisory, organizational, leadership, communication, and public relations skills.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is advantageous.
