Role Significance

Under the guidance of the Team Lead for UX Research & Design, the User Experience (UX) Designer plays a crucial role in developing digital design solutions that cater to user requirements as well as CIHI's business and technical specifications. The UX Designer advocates for a uniform user experience throughout CIHI's digital landscape and guarantees the prompt delivery of solutions that fulfill quality standards and adhere to enterprise protocols.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develops comprehensive and practical design solutions based on user experience and business objectives, ensuring consistency, usability, accessibility, responsiveness, and bilingual capabilities.
2. Facilitates and oversees all stages of the design process, including discovery, design, implementation, testing, and deployment.
3. Aids in the creation and refinement of artifacts such as user flows, content maps, sitemaps, wireframes, low and high-fidelity mock-ups, prototypes, responsive layouts, and detailed design specifications.
4. Ensures design solutions are aligned through iteration, collaboration, and effective communication.
5. Plans, leads, and documents discovery and content mapping sessions with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts.
6. Produces designs that align with CIHI's digital strategy, design principles, and established standards such as CIHI's Design System and WCAG 2.
7. Contributes to the development and upkeep of relevant interactive user products and services, applying UX design interaction methods, standards, and best practices.
8. Collaborates with UX researchers to review and validate concepts and designs with external target users, when applicable.
9. Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications


• Bachelor's degree in User Experience, Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Interactive Media, Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in UX design for interactive products and services.

• Proficient in UX tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, and MURAL or Miro.

• Familiarity with web UX, usability, and interaction design best practices, methods, patterns, and standards, including WCAG 2.

• Basic understanding of front-end web technologies is advantageous (HTML, CSS, front-end web frameworks).

• Experience with UX research and testing methodologies is a plus.

• Strong facilitation, communication, organizational skills, and keen attention to detail.

• Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision as part of a cross-functional team.

• Capacity to produce quality outputs efficiently.

• Experience in product development or product life cycles is beneficial.

• Experience with data design or data visualization is a plus.

• Proficiency in English is required; bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
