Registered Nurse for Specialty Training

Are you passionate about nursing and education? We invite you to explore an exciting opportunity as a Registered Nurse dedicated to providing exceptional patient care while engaging in a comprehensive training program at Northern Health Authority.
In this role, you will operate under the guidance of the Site Administrator and the clinical leadership of the Director of Nursing. Your responsibilities will include delivering nursing care to patients in various settings, including emergency and outpatient services.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing nursing interventions and patient care.
- Assisting emergency services with patient transfers.
- Maintaining accurate statistical records and documentation.
- Managing departmental inventory.
- Collaborating with other health service providers.
Training Program Details
We are offering training positions for aspiring nurses as part of the Rural Emergency Training Program. This program includes:
- Support for tuition, textbooks, and travel expenses for clinical placements.
- A commitment of 4 to 8 months for both online and in-person learning.
- Potential additional study time outside scheduled hours.
- Flexibility for practicum placements.
- A requirement to complete the education program before assuming a nursing role.
- An eighteen (18) month return of service in a nursing position upon successful completion of the program.
- Priority consideration for qualified applicants for specialty positions.
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN.
- Current CPR and ACLS Certification.
- Post-basic training or one year of recent clinical experience in a critical care setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Competencies:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Proficiency in starting IVs.
- Independence in work performance.
- Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of contacts, including colleagues, healthcare professionals, and patients.
- Physical capability to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Competence in operating relevant medical equipment.
