Position Overview:Durham College is in search of a qualified and passionate individual who aligns with our dedication to educational quality and student achievement. The Faculty of Science, Engineering and Information Technology is looking for a part-time instructor to deliver the course INST 1104 – Instrumental Analysis as part of the Water Quality program.
This course provides students with insights into process instrumentation and control systems utilized in the water and wastewater sectors. Participants will learn about the functionality of instruments that measure, control, and monitor key plant process variables such as flow, level, and pressure, as well as analytical devices used to assess conditions like turbidity, chlorine residual, and pH levels.
Important Note for Part-Time Faculty ApplicantsRecruitment for part-time positions is ongoing and is contingent upon course schedules and faculty needs.
Part-time faculty members typically teach up to 6 hours weekly, with schedules varying from Monday to Thursday between 8:00 am and 9:00 pm, and Fridays from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Key Responsibilities of Part-Time Professors at Durham College:- Fostering an inclusive learning environment that respects students' diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning preferences;
- Applying adult education principles to actively engage students in their learning journey;
- Effectively leveraging educational technologies to enhance learning, manage grades, and deliver hybrid and online courses;
- Designing curriculum that incorporates suitable strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
- Ensuring course and program content remains current and relevant;
- Demonstrating independence and initiative in the role; and
- Collaborating effectively with students, program teams, and various internal and external stakeholders.
- A relevant degree, complemented by industry credentials (Master's degree is advantageous).
- Experience in wastewater operations is beneficial.
- A minimum of five years of recent and pertinent work experience.
- Teaching experience at the post-secondary level, with a solid understanding and application of Universal Design for Learning and contemporary assessment methods.
- Experience in industry-led or community-based applied research is a plus.
- Proficiency in utilizing current technologies to support student learning and grade management.
- A proven commitment to lifelong learning.
- Ability to work effectively with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, support staff, administrators, and community partners.
- Familiarity with the Ontario college system.
