As a key member of the Finance Department, the Treasurer will be responsible for managing all financial and material resources of the City.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare financial statements and coordinate the year-end external audit
* Analyze accounts to prepare and approve month-end and fiscal year-end journal entries
* Prepare tax rate simulations, invoicing and collection of municipal taxes
* Generate budget comparison reports
* Interface with other departments regarding procedures, issues and concerns that affect all financial issues
* Develop and update department procedures
* Validate effectiveness of internal controls and make recommendations for improvements
* Manage long-term debt service financing and reimbursement; prepare analyses and year-end financial statements for the employee pension plan and manage department workflow including prioritizing department tasks.

Requirements:

* Relevant university degree
* Professional experience, knowledge and skills necessary to meet the City's expectations
* Membership in the CPA order
* Excellent English and French language skills (written and spoken)
* A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience
* Experience in municipalities will be considered assets
* Strong analytical skills, excellent knowledge of finance and technology, the ability to motivate others to work as a positive team, proactive in leading the department towards systems and efficiency improvements, excellent communication skills, including listening and providing feedback, and supervisory experience
