Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter - Community Alberta

We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to join our team in Alberta. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between Deaf and hearing individuals in our community.

About the Role:

This is a part-time position that requires flexibility and adaptability. You will work with Deaf and hearing individuals in various settings, including community events, meetings, and appointments. Your primary responsibility will be to interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, ensuring that all parties understand each other.

Responsibilities:
  • Interpret between ASL and spoken English in various settings
  • Work with Deaf and hearing individuals to facilitate communication
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members and stakeholders
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Meet performance and customer service expectations with minimal supervision
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Interpreter certification required; years of experience working as an interpreter preferred
  • Ability to pass a skills assessment and maintain active membership in good standing with CASLI
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
