Job Title: Volunteers in Connected Families Parenting Support

About the Role

We are seeking volunteers to join our Connected Families, Parenting Support Program, which provides temporary relief and support services to at-risk families caring for children from birth to four years of age. As a volunteer, you will work with families to provide emotional support, practical assistance, and educational resources to help them navigate the challenges of parenting.

Responsibilities
  • Visit families weekly for three hours, engaging in meaningful conversations and activities with parents and children.
  • Provide emotional support and practical assistance to families, including meal planning and preparation, household chores, and errands.
  • Assist families in accessing community resources, such as Early ON Centers and libraries.
  • Participate in training and education sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Complete weekly logs and reports to provide feedback and insights.
Requirements
  • Person-centered and caring attitude.
  • Related child development experience.
  • Experience caring for newborns and toddlers.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse families.
  • Creativity in planning and implementing activities.
  • Strong active listening skills and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community resources and mental health.
