Healthcare Reception Specialist

Position Overview:

As an integral part of the ambulatory surgical clinics, this role focuses on reception duties, effective communication, and appointment management through both manual and electronic systems. The individual will oversee chart flow, armbanding, and the development of Community Wide Scheduling resource schedules, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to meet clinic requirements.

  • Adhere to the organizational philosophy, policies, and standards of the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to customer service, ensuring effective communication and interaction with patients, families, external agencies, and staff.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a professional team.
  • Utilize proper telephone etiquette in all communications.
  • Receive and relay information accurately and promptly to the appropriate personnel or departments.
  • Share and apply acquired knowledge effectively.
  • Adapt to a dynamic work environment with flexibility.
  • Manage daily clinic tasks proficiently, prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving skills.
  • Maintain excellent organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrate accountability and responsibility in all tasks.
  • Commit to ongoing professional growth and development.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in a computerized work environment.
  • Familiarity with Meditech systems, including ADM, Expanse/PCS/Service Portal/Maintenance, Community Wide Scheduling, and EMR.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain departmental statistical data as required.
  • Order and manage departmental supplies, including stationery and charts.
  • Exhibit proven workplace excellence through strong job performance and attendance.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a strong ability to multitask.
  • Enhance data quality and accuracy in information gathering processes.
  • Be available to work at various locations as needed.

All applicants must possess a minimum educational requirement of Grade 12 or equivalent and demonstrate a commitment to strong job performance and attendance.

As a Regional Health Centre, our operations are continuous, requiring availability for weekdays, weekends, and all shifts, including days, evenings, and nights.
