Job Summary

The City of Brampton is seeking highly skilled and dedicated individuals to fill Aquatic Staff positions for the Winter 2025 session. As an Aquatic Staff Member, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality swimming lessons and ensuring the safety of participants.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and deliver safe and engaging swimming lessons for all levels of participants.
  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, including greeting and engaging with participants.
  • Supervise volunteers and participants and ensure their safety at all times.
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner, including attendance, incident/accident reports, and opening/closing procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space, ensuring equipment is set up and stored appropriately.
  • Report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to the immediate supervisor for follow-up and take appropriate action.
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services.
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality Guidelines, Emergency Procedures, and Health and Safety Standards for all participants and staff.
  • Attend meetings/training as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 15 years of age.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Bronze Cross.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructors, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire.
  • Current Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor and/or Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor, considered an asset.
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1 month of date of hire.
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification, or ability to obtain within 2 months of the date of hire.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Permanent residency in Brampton.

Selection Criteria

The City of Brampton will administer various tests and/or exams as part of the selection criteria.
