Environmental Consultant

Ausenco is a leading environmental consulting firm seeking an experienced Intermediate Environmental Scientist to join our team in the Yukon office.
About the RoleWe are looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to work on a wide range of environmental projects, including biological surveys, habitat assessments, environmental compliance monitoring, and environmental permitting.
Key Responsibilities- Design and lead biological surveys, conduct habitat assessments, and environmental compliance monitoring
- Collect, manage, interpret, and report on environmental data
- Support the development of scopes of work and budgets for proposals
- Design and implement terrestrial and aquatic habitat mitigation and offsetting measures
- Contribute to the compilation and writing of regulatory submissions
- Contribute to the development of environmental assessment reports and support project teams during all stages of a project life cycle
- Manage and track communication processes between proponents, environmental teams, and regulatory agencies
- Liaise with regulatory agencies and Indigenous peoples
- Mentor junior staff
- Provide and receive constructive feedback on the work of others and yourself
- Adhere to health and safety plans and quality processes on all work, projects, and reports
- University degree in biology, ecology, environmental science, or a related field
- 5-7 years industry experience within environmental consulting
- Professional designation (e.g., R.P.Bio or P.Biol.) or eligibility for a designation
- Knowledge of provincial, territory, and federal environmental legislation gained through formal studies or practical experience
- Experience with proposal preparation
- Experience leading and conducting biological surveys, aquatic or terrestrial habitat assessments, environmental monitoring, permitting, and reporting
- Willingness to work outside in adverse weather conditions for long periods at a time and in remote locations
- Ability to coordinate and work effectively with environmental subcontractors
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to think independently and strategically, maintain a positive attitude, be self-motivated, and employ a strong work initiative
- Ability to work with junior and senior staff on various projects of differing complexity
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Valid driver's license
