Senior Data Scientist

As a Senior Data Scientist at Global Relay, you will be responsible for building and deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions for our customers. Our team is composed of small, focused agile teams of data scientists and developers who work together to develop innovative solutions.

You will be applying a wide range of models to large electronic communication archives to classify and understand communication content. This will involve working with machine translation, transcription, natural language processing, large language models, and generative AI.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Working closely with other data scientists and developers to build and deploy machine learning models
  • Executing all steps in the data science process from understanding business requirements to deploying models
  • Taking initiative to identify and solve important problems, coordinating with others on cross-cutting technical issues
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate data scientists via pairing and reviews
  • Participating in design review, code review, sprint planning, and other Agile artifacts

We are looking for a highly experienced data scientist with a strong background in machine learning and a passion for building innovative solutions. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5+ years of experience with solving machine learning problems
  • BSc in a STEM or Linguistics subject or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with Python and Bash
  • Experience with common machine learning libraries such as PyTorch, Sklearn, TensorFlow, and others
  • Experience mentoring junior and intermediate data scientists
  • PhD in a STEM or Linguistics subject (considered 2 additional years of experience)

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $130,000 CAD, as well as a corporate bonus, extended health benefits, and RRSP Matching.
