Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Nurse Practitioner, Cleft Palate and Cranio-Facial Program Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and treat patients with undifferentiated diseases, illnesses, and conditions within the Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic investigations, and analyze information to monitor progress and plan treatment.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Write orders for treatment and medications, and provide first-line care in emergencies.
  • Establish priorities for management of health conditions, provide follow-up treatment, and communicate with patients and families about health findings, diagnoses, and prognoses.
  • Collaborate and/or consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals as needed.
  • Prescribe medications within statutory and regulatory standards, limits, and conditions for Nurse Practitioners.

Requirements

  • Current registration as a Nurse Practitioner with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Eligibility to complete the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) through the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Minimum of 4 years of recent, relevant clinical nursing experience.
  • Ability to perform the full scope of Nurse Practitioner duties and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting Indigenous communities.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism principles.
