Position Overview

As an Early Childhood Education Assistant at Grandma's House Day Care Ltd., you will play a crucial role in fostering the growth and development of young children. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks aimed at supporting early childhood educators and ensuring a nurturing environment.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of a secondary (high) school graduation certificate is mandatory.
Work Environment

This position is situated within a child care centre, where you will engage with infants and toddlers daily.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide care for infants and toddlers, including bathing, diapering, and feeding.
  • Facilitate storytelling sessions to promote language development.
  • Assist early childhood educators in implementing programs that enhance children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social skills.
  • Support educators in maintaining accurate records of children's progress.
  • Encourage creative expression through art, music, and physical activities.
  • Engage children in various activities, including storytelling and craft preparation.
  • Guide children in developing healthy habits related to eating, dressing, and toilet training.
  • Prepare snacks and organize spaces for meals and rest.
  • Understand and adhere to licensing regulations.
  • Establish and maintain behavioral guidelines.
  • Participate in staff meetings to discuss children's development and challenges.
  • Help create a safe and healthy environment for children.
Certifications and Licenses
  • Child Development Assistant (ECE Level 1)
  • Child Development Worker (ECE Level 2)
  • Emergency Child Care First Aid and CPR certification
Safety and Security
  • Basic security clearance is required.
  • A criminal record check is necessary.
  • Immunization records must be up to date.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks and engage in physically demanding activities.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Comfortable with a combination of sitting, standing, and walking, including bending and kneeling.
Personal Attributes
  • Punctuality and reliability are crucial.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Flexibility and sound judgment are necessary for this role.
  • Must be a team player who values ethics and professionalism.
Experience

Prior experience of 1 to less than 7 months in a similar role is preferred. This is a permanent position requiring 30 hours of work per week.
