Job Summary

Fraser Health is seeking a skilled Day Program Recreation Worker to join our team at Queen's Park Care Centre in New Westminster, BC. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for planning and delivering social and recreational activities for our clients, promoting their physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement individualized activity plans to meet the diverse needs and interests of our clients, including mental aerobics, music, cooking, and special events.
  2. Collaborate with our nursing team to report observations of client behavior and progress, and to communicate concerns and difficulties.
  3. Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, hygiene, eating, toileting, and ambulation, using mechanical aids as needed.
  4. Participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to provide input on client activities and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  5. Transport clients to and from activities, and arrange for on-site entertainment and equipment as required.
  6. Provide direction to volunteers and maintain a safe and tidy working environment.
Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with a Grade 12 education, completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program, and one year of recent related experience. A current Food Safe I certificate is also required.

Successful candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and have the physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
