About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Installer and Finisher to join our team at OLD SKOOL WALLS & CEILINGS. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality drywall installation and finishing services for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Education and Experience
    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
    • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the trade
  • Technical Skills
    • Apply, level and smooth coats of plaster to create a seamless finish
    • Cut and install metal corner beads to protect exterior corners and ensure a durable finish
    • Fills joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound using a trowel and broad knife
    • Finish corners and angles and create decorative designs in the finish coat, if required
    • Measure, cut, fit and install drywall sheets to ensure a precise fit
    • Smooth out excess compound and allow the coat to dry to achieve a smooth finish
    • Tape over joints using a taping machine and embed tape in compound to create a strong bond
    • Install corner beads and wire mesh around beams to which plaster is to be applied
    • Install exterior and interior steel studs to provide a solid foundation for drywall installation
    • Install metal stud framing and furring for interior drywall or plaster walls and ceilings, using hand and power tools
    • Prepare wall and ceiling layouts to ensure accurate measurements and installation
    • Estimate costs and materials to ensure efficient project management
    • Work at heights, on scaffolding or swing stages to complete tasks safely and efficiently
    • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifications to understand project requirements
