Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Application Support and Development Manager to join our Information Technology (IT) Services leadership team at Red Deer Polytechnic. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading a dynamic team of Database Administrators, Business System Analysts, and Application Specialists through fast-paced information technology services projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the staff in the Application Support and Development section, ensuring optimal operation and function, and that services are provided in compliance with established service level agreements (SLAs) and division policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and manage service deliverables and client expectations, ensuring staff compliance with established procedures to ensure prompt and quality service for IT service requests.
  • Coordinate and manage the analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of new service initiatives.
  • Coordinate capacity planning and evaluation of new software or development deployments.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, opportunities for enterprise solutions, conflicting business practices, and integration issues to facilitate better project outcomes.
  • Consult with subject matter experts when needed to provide expertise and consulting support on Institution-wide processes and systems issues.
Requirements
  • Two-year Diploma in Information and/or Computer Technology.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Information Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in supervising and coordinating staff.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four-year degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.
  • Experience in a post-secondary or education environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management in the IT field.
