Job Title: Communications Infrastructure Specialist
Job Summary:
The Communications Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for providing fast, reliable, and secure wired communications infrastructure and support to wireless systems. This includes the installation, removal, maintenance, and repair of leading edge communications infrastructure such as interior structured cable systems, radio, satellite, and microwave broadband equipment and infrastructure, communications towers and antennas, and fibre optic and copper cable distribution and supporting infrastructure in buildings and military bases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, remove, maintain, and repair leading edge communications infrastructure
- Provide technical support for wireless systems
- Work at heights and in confined spaces for extended periods of time
- Apply safety standards and protocols
- Collaborate with teams to provide communications and information services
Work Environment:
The Communications Infrastructure Specialist will work primarily outdoors, across the country and around the world, wherever the Canadian Armed Forces have a footprint. This role requires flexibility with regards to postings (relocations), and accommodations may not always be possible.
Training and Development:
The Communications Infrastructure Specialist will undergo training at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School and the Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics. This training will provide the basic core skills and knowledge common to all trades, as well as specialized skills and knowledge in communications infrastructure installation, maintenance, and repair.
Requirements:
- Canadian citizenship or permanent residency
- Age 18 or older (17 with parental consent)
- Completed Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec, including Grade 10 Applied Math or Math 416 in Quebec
