Position Overview

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) serves as a vital member of the healthcare team, dedicated to delivering exceptional patient-centered nursing care to individuals with less complex health needs. This role is primarily situated within the Endoscopy Unit, where the LPN is responsible for ensuring safe and effective nursing practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing safe nursing practices throughout the nursing process, including assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Delivering professional, patient-focused care that prioritizes safety and promotes both physiological and psychological well-being.
  • Providing compassionate care within a culturally diverse environment.
  • Adhering to infection control protocols and preventive measures.
  • Recognizing and responding to emergency situations by monitoring changes in patient health status and consulting appropriately.
  • Offering comprehensive health education to patients and their families, including detailed discharge instructions to facilitate continuity of care.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of recent experience in acute medical, surgical, or critical care settings.
  • Preferred experience in an endoscopy unit within the last five years.
  • Experience in assessing and monitoring patients undergoing procedural sedation is essential.
  • Thorough understanding of infection control practices in an endoscopy environment is required.

Core Competencies:

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
  • Strong knowledge of nursing processes, theories, and professional responsibilities.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is mandatory.
  • Medication administration certification and completion of a patient assessment course are required for LPNs who graduated prior to 2005.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of an inter-professional healthcare team.

  • Experience in providing health education to patients and families.
  • Demonstrated leadership and facilitation abilities.

Additional Information:

This position requires working day shifts, including weekends and holidays, subject to operational needs.

Salary:
Minimum: $34.26 per hour
Maximum: $37.05 per hour
