Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker 5 to join the Plant Maintenance team at Vancouver General Hospital.

This role is part of VCH's commitment to providing high-quality care and services to our patients and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform trades duties approaching the journeyman level in various trades areas, including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and welding.
  • Conduct maintenance and repair duties related to buildings and equipment, and perform mechanical and electrical repairs to equipment and systems.
  • Participate in the Rapid Response Team and as a member of the Maintenance team.
  • Assist other team members in their duties to ensure timely and complete delivery of service to our clients.
  • Act in various capacities to support maintenance in general terms.
  • Act as a customer service advocate, accelerating the resolution of customer concerns.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 10, plus four (4) years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's license, unless specified in the posting.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
