Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Housekeeper, Care Specialist to join our team at Century Group. As a key member of our housekeeping team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of our residents' rooms, common areas, and other designated spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect residents' rooms, furniture, and common areas on a scheduled basis.
  • Vacuum and clean interior windows in resident rooms and common areas.
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms, equipment, and beds, and take linens to the laundry room.
  • Prepare cleaning solutions and utilize cleaning supplies in accordance with established procedures and safe practices.
  • Ensure furniture is arranged to provide a safe and efficient environment.
  • Check and restock laundry supplies as required.
  • Ensure laundry equipment and supplies are used and stored in a safe and efficient manner, and report any unsafe or faulty equipment to the Director of Care.
  • Ensure health, safety, and hygiene practices/procedures are adhered to, and assist in maintaining quality assurance standards.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of and comply with Century Group policies and procedures.
  • Comply with all WHMIS requirements.
  • Perform terminal cleaning duties upon vacancies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Grade 10 education or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Institutional certificate is an asset.
  • Knowledge about the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be physically and mentally able to carry out the assigned duties with minimum supervision.
  • Must possess the qualities and attitude that respects and maintains the spirit, dignity, and individuality of the residents.
  • Must be able to speak and understand English competently and to understand written and oral instructions in English.
  • Must be capable of safely and efficiently operating all equipment associated with the duties required for the position.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations by displaying tact, courtesy, and patience with residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers in the workplace.
