Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Electrical Techniques Instructor to join our team at Humber College. As a Professor of Electrical Techniques/Apprenticeship, you will be responsible for teaching and developing curriculum for our Electrical Techniques Post-Secondary and Electrical Apprenticeship programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and deliver lectures, both online and on-campus, on Electrical Theory, Code, Instrumentation, Installation, Programmable Logic Controllers, and Hydraulics.
  • Develop and revise courses, labs, and curriculum to ensure they are relevant and effective.
  • Manage classroom dynamics and evaluate student progress and achievement.
  • Design and develop courses and labs using Humber's Learning Management System (LMS) - BlackBoard.
  • Participate in program promotion, recommend program advisory committee members, and contribute to the overall direction of the department.
  • Provide leadership in partnership development, securing collaborative, industry-driven student projects.
  • Support student advising, recruitment, graduate placement, and program marketing.
  • Develop and maintain strong industry ties.
Qualifications
  • Journeyperson Certification and a minimum of 8-9 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Teaching experience in the electrical field.
  • Formal studies in adult or higher education, a Master Electrician, or Baccalaureate is an asset.
  • Successful completion of a recognized Adult Education Certificate.
  • Strong teaching ability, understanding of the learning process, and excellent communication skills.
  • Initiative, strong written and oral communication skills, and engaging teaching skills.
  • Ability to coach and support students, manage classroom dynamics, and apply current pedagogical principles.
  • Commitment to fostering innovation and positive change, equity, and inclusion.
  • Well-developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
