We are seeking a dedicated Compensation and Benefits Specialist to enhance our HR operations. This role is pivotal in managing various payroll-related responsibilities, ensuring smooth and accurate payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues.
  • Administer payroll transactions, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with all Union Collective Bargaining Agreements and manage monthly payments accordingly.
  • Calculate wages, benefits, and deductions accurately based on union agreements and established protocols.
  • Process payroll updates promptly, including new hires, terminations, and pay rate adjustments.
  • Maintain payroll records meticulously.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local payroll laws and best practices.
  • Assist in preparing HR reports, such as attendance, new hire, and turnover statistics.
  • Manage payroll system entries, including employee compensation details, time worked, and deductions.
  • Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, and other contributions.
  • Conduct bi-weekly and weekly payroll processing, including same-day checks.
  • Audit payroll allocation reports against General Ledger postings to ensure accuracy.
  • Oversee the reconciliation of Paid Time Off (PTO) in accordance with company policies.
  • Handle unemployment claims and disputes as necessary.
  • Provide training on payroll and timekeeping policies.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Payroll Administrator/Specialist, particularly in unionized settings.
  • Strong understanding of union regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and labor laws.
  • A minimum of three years of multi-state payroll experience.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and related technologies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive employee and company information.
  • Exceptional multitasking and prioritization skills in a dynamic environment. Experience with UKG is a plus.
