Financial Analyst Job Description

CNIB Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team. As a Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial health and stability of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure general ledger reconciliations are completed within policy compliance, and any anomalies are corrected.
  • Review and monitor the financial activities of all entities, including programs and contracts.
  • Provide detailed monthly variance analysis reports to management and assist in monitoring revenues and expenditures.
  • Coordinate and plan data to assist in the preparation of annual operational and capital budgets and forecasts for all programs.
  • Coordinate between financial reporting and financial transaction processing teams on day-to-day activities.
  • Ensure financial objectives of operational and administrative teams are met.
  • Answer accounting-related queries and resolve problems promptly.
  • Provide support with reporting and internal and year-end external audit deliverables as requested.
Requirements:
  • At least 1 year of experience as a budget analyst, financial analyst, business accountant, or a similar role.
  • Strong accounting fundamentals, with a working knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and business processes with financial statements and financial statement commentary.
  • Working knowledge of HST, GST, and QST/PST and its application to charities operating in the charitable sector is an asset.
  • Excellent systems experience, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good working knowledge of general ledger, fixed assets, and accounts payable systems.
  • Proficiency in Oracle NetSuite, SAP Concur, and QuickBooks is an asset.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Maintains effective performance under pressure.
  • Demonstrates high standards of conduct.
  • Have a proven track record of successful multitasking and providing accurate and timely results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Takes initiative to keep abreast of updates to accounting standards and issues related to finance operations.
