Summary

Fort McKay Group of Companies LP is seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team at the Syncrude site. Reporting to the Team Lead, you will be responsible for operating various heavy equipment in a safe, efficient, and productive manner to support civil construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate dozers, excavators, or graders to move earth, rock, gravel, and other materials during construction activities.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operational and post-operational checks on equipment, ensuring cleanliness and performing basic maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Follow instructions from the Team Lead and Shift Supervisor, adapting your work approach based on changing conditions, policies, and procedures.
  • Actively participate in toolbox meetings, contributing suggestions for improvement and safety enhancements.
  • Communicate any required equipment maintenance or repairs to the Team Lead or Shift Supervisor promptly.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety, ensuring the well-being of yourself, fellow personnel, and the worksite environment.
  • Adhere to all client policies, procedures, and requirements while on site.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean three-year driving abstract is essential.
  • Experience operating haul trucks is an asset.
  • CSO, BSO, or OSSA certification is mandatory.
  • Ability to speak, write, and read English fluently.
  • College or industry courses in heavy equipment operation are considered advantageous.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
