Spirit River, Canada Alberta Health Services Full time

Opportunity Overview:

As a vital member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Registered Nurse (RN) is instrumental in fostering a comprehensive and integrated approach to patient care, health promotion, and wellness maintenance. Practicing in a rural healthcare setting will enhance your clinical skills and challenge your capacity to manage diverse patient needs while prioritizing effectively. Your responsibilities will encompass the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of safe, high-quality care in accordance with Alberta Health Services (AHS) policies and guidelines.

You will cater to a varied patient demographic, consistently upholding AHS's core values: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and safety. This role offers opportunities to refine your expertise in acute medical/surgical care and emergency response. Your ability to think critically and solve problems will be essential as you deliver direct, patient-centered care across all age groups, maintaining a professional demeanor and strong communication skills.

Northern Alberta presents numerous benefits beyond professional development – experience a unique lifestyle, engage with new communities, and explore various recreational activities. Enjoy the extended summer days outdoors, whether hiking, biking, horseback riding, or engaging in winter sports like skiing and ice fishing. From expansive grasslands to lush boreal forests, immerse yourself in culturally rich communities.

In addition to a competitive salary, AHS offers a Remote Retention Allowance of up to $3,000 annually, which is non-pensionable and calculated hourly based on your basic pay rate.

Role Responsibilities:

As a Registered Nurse, you will deliver a broad spectrum of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your role will involve utilizing nursing processes through critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making, while also educating, counseling, and advocating for patients and their families. You will take a leadership role in promoting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care and health maintenance, providing safe, quality care that aligns with AHS's shared vision and values.

Required Qualifications:

- Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
- Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse in the last five years, completion of specific free courses is required.

Additional Required Qualifications:

- Experience in at least one of the following areas: acute care, emergency, intensive care, continuing care, or psychiatry, with a willingness to acquire new skills as necessary.
- Ability to work shifts and meet the physical demands of the role.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certifications in relevant specialty areas, experience as a charge nurse, and past leadership training/experience.
- Experience in multiple departments is preferred, demonstrating a willingness to learn new skills.
