Student Support Counsellor

Location: Remote
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be a vital part of the Student Services Department, reporting directly to the Head of Counselling Services. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing individualized career and personal counselling to students, ensuring they achieve their educational and career aspirations.
- Administering and interpreting various assessment tools related to career planning and personal wellbeing.
- Offering short-term personal counselling and facilitating timely referrals to external support services.
- Participating in emergency preparedness and crisis response initiatives, providing essential consultation and support.
- Promoting counselling services through the development and delivery of workshops and presentations focused on wellbeing and resilience.
- Creating resources to assist students in their transitions and wellbeing, while establishing connections with community and provincial organizations.
- Coordinating campus and community resources to support students in crisis situations.
- Facilitating peer mentorship programs and training peer coaches to enhance student support.
- Providing resources that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the student community.
Education and Experience:
- A degree in social sciences or a related field, accompanied by relevant work experience.
- Registration in good standing with a recognized professional body.
- Experience in delivering individual support through career and personal counselling, along with a background in administering support services.
- Proven ability to conduct workshops and training, collaborating effectively with teams to foster individual and group success.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships throughout the organization.
- Strong sense of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional growth.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- A minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in a post-secondary educational setting.
