About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Academic Advisor and Program Officer to join our team at the University of Toronto Mississauga. As a key member of our Department of Management, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic progression of students through our programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide academic and financial guidance to students, taking into account their personal circumstances and background.
  • Review and assess petitions for special consideration, ensuring fairness and equity.
  • Analyze and make recommendations on award funding allocation, considering the needs of our students.
  • Offer detailed information on programs, eligibility requirements, procedures, and deadlines, ensuring students are well-informed.
  • Analyze course enrollment and waitlisted numbers to identify the need for additional lecture sections, optimizing our course offerings.
  • Coordinate the preparation and distribution of program and course materials, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes to policies, procedures, collective agreements, and applicable legislated requirements, ensuring compliance.
  • Promote our programs at recruitment events, showcasing our academic excellence.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years of related experience, preferably in academic advising or program management.
  • Experience overseeing or supporting course outline collection and review, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Experience overseeing exam collection and review, maintaining the integrity of our academic processes.
  • Experience or familiarity with academic integrity and petitions processes, upholding our commitment to fairness and equity.
  • Experience overseeing and managing student recruitment and orientation events planning, creating engaging experiences for our students.
  • Experience in scheduling and timetabling, optimizing our course offerings and student schedules.
  • Experience with generating reports, providing valuable insights to inform our decision-making.
  • Familiarity with academic processes and procedures, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
  • Experience organizing data for various reports, providing accurate and timely information.
  • Experience and knowledge of ROSI and Sharepoint, leveraging technology to enhance our operations.
  • Understanding of the academic cycle from the viewpoint of students, faculty, and administrators, ensuring a student-centered approach.
