About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Community Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis. As a Community Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing harm reduction services, overdose prevention, and support to individuals in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a unique cultural lens based on your own experiences and perspectives to support individuals facing barriers and stigma related to addiction, homelessness, poverty, or incarceration.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide harm reduction services, overdose prevention, and access to community resources.
  • Support program participants in creating a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Provide a variety of physical, emotional, social, and life skills supports to program participants.
  • Alert other PHS staff of any program participant requiring acute medical care or intervention.
  • Perform basic indoor and outdoor cleaning duties at PHS work sites.
  • Replenish and restock harm reduction supplies, office supplies, and other site-specific supplies.
  • Communicate questions and concerns from program participants to PHS management.
  • Comply with all OH&S and PHS employee policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Lived experience of the challenges faced by program participants.
  • Grade 12 education or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Access to and ability to use basic digital technologies (smartphones, computers, email, apps).
  • Overdose prevention and intervention training.
