Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Kitchen Helper to join our team at Best Western The Westerly Hotel. As a key member of our food service team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen.
Key Responsibilities- Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize items such as dishwasher mats, carts, and waste disposal units to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
- Dishwashing: Operate dishwashers to wash dishes, glassware, and flatware, and place them in storage areas.
- Food Preparation: Sanitize and wash dishes and other items by hand, and assist with food preparation tasks such as portioning and wrapping foods.
- Inventory Management: Keep records of the quantities of food used, and assist with inventory management tasks such as stocking refrigerators and salad bars.
- Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean and sanitize the kitchen, including work surfaces, cupboards, storage areas, appliances, and equipment, and perform other cleaning and maintenance tasks as required.
- Supply Management: Handle and store cleaning products, and receive, unpack, and store supplies in refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage areas.
- Waste Management: Remove kitchen garbage and trash, and assist with other waste management tasks as required.
- Equipment Maintenance: Sharpen kitchen knives, and assist with other equipment maintenance tasks as required.
- Floor Care: Sweep, mop, wash, and polish floors to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
- Food Handling: Wash, peel, and cut vegetables and fruit, and assist with other food handling tasks as required.
- Physical Demands: The ability to handle heavy loads, and to work in a physically demanding environment.
- Attention to Detail: The ability to pay attention to detail, and to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
- Teamwork: The ability to work effectively as part of a team, and to contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
- Initiative: The ability to take initiative, and to anticipate and respond to the needs of the kitchen.
- Language: Fluency in English is required.
