Your Responsibilities

Epic Games is in search of a Lead Systems Designer to become an integral part of our vibrant team, contributing to various facets of systems architecture for our collaboration with Disney. You will play a pivotal role in the team, crafting and executing game systems that captivate, engage, and retain players. Additionally, you will be instrumental in discussions regarding new features, leveraging your experience to guide initial concepts in the most effective direction.

In this position, you will
  1. Design, prototype, and refine intricate design systems that bolster the core gameplay and creative vision.
  2. Collaborate closely with Leads to develop and validate a comprehensive metagame experience.
  3. Partner with Production and your Leads to identify and prioritize essential tasks for creating these systems.
  4. Take the lead in driving the design and execution of these systems to a high standard.
  5. Create documentation and utilize spreadsheets and flowcharts to model game systems, considering how different player types will interact with them.
  6. Enhance the player experience through playtesting, iteration, game balancing, and continuous improvement of the game experience.
Qualifications
  1. 7+ years of experience delivering multiple AAA titles as a Game Designer.
  2. 2+ years in a Lead Game Designer capacity, including experience in team management or leadership.
  3. Strong knowledge of development tools, game engines (preferably UE 4/5), and production pipelines.
  4. A comprehensive understanding of game design principles, including core experience, retention, player progression, and balance.
  5. Ability to take ownership and effectively communicate initiatives to ensure timely completion aligned with the design vision.
