Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist

William Osler Health System is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results, which are essential for patient care and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify laboratory results for accuracy and investigate unexpected abnormalities
  • Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory analyzers and equipment
  • Monitor quality control results and respond to discordant results
  • Ensure proper specimen collection, transport, and storage
  • Refer discordant findings to appropriate personnel for further follow-up
  • Assist with bone marrow collections and process in-house and send-out test requests
  • Monitor temperature and expiry dates of blood and blood component products
  • Issue blood and blood component products
  • Participate in laboratory quality management and process improvements
Requirements:
  • Medical Laboratory Technologist with CSMLS certification
  • Current registration with CMLTO in good standing
  • Minimum two years recent transfusion medicine experience in a hospital laboratory setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and maintain high productivity and professionalism
  • Strong multi-tasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proven ability to be a team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of Meditech, Paradigm, and Microsoft Office computer systems an asset
