Overview: Jardeg is actively seeking experienced B-Pressure Welder Journeypersons (Hand Welders) to contribute to the Suncor Fort Hills project team located near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a permanent role operating on a 7/7 shift schedule. We are in search of Welders with a collaborative spirit, capable of working alongside other trades such as Millwrights and Pipefitters.

Role of a Welder: Welders are responsible for the joining or severing of metals in various structures including beams, girders, vessels, and piping. They create metal components utilized in construction and manufacturing, as well as weld parts, tools, machines, and equipment. Welders must be adept at interpreting layouts, blueprints, and work orders, ensuring all components are clean, defect-free, and shaped accurately, often employing cutting torches and welding techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expertly fuse metals using specified welding techniques.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of welding equipment associated with diverse welding methods.
  • Interpret drawings and develop layout patterns, calculating material quantities as necessary.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases, and gas welding filler rods.
  • Identify defective welds and understand the causes and repair procedures for rectifying issues.
  • Apply mathematical calculations relevant to the welding trade.
  • Maintain familiarity with industry-required codes.
  • Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople.
  • Execute tasks in compliance with industry quality and production standards.
  • Hold a valid CWB certification for the processes utilized.
  • Possess a valid B-pressure ticket for the applicable processes, if necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Journeyperson Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal.
  • CSTS Certification.
  • H2S Alive Certification.
  • AWP Certification.
  • Fall Protection Certification.
  • Confined Space Certification.
  • Common Safety Orientation Certification.
  • Overhead Crane & Rigging Certification.
  • Mask Fit Test Certification.
  • Successful completion of a Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Test.

Welding Certifications: (must be current and within 6 months)

  • F3/F4 – Carbon SMAW
  • F6/F5 – Stainless TIG
  • F6 – Stainless GTAW
  • F43 – Inconel
  • CWB
  • B-pressure
