Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a Materials Technician to join our team on a project at Voisey's Bay mine in Labrador. The successful candidate will conduct laboratory and field testing on aggregate, soils, concrete, and grout, as well as compaction and site conditions monitoring.

The Materials Technician will work primarily within a small crew to provide quality control/quality assurance, collect and review field notes, and present data to clients or supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct laboratory and field testing on aggregate, soils, concrete, and grout
  • Monitor compaction and site conditions
  • Collect and review field notes
  • Present data to clients or supervisors
  • Attend client meetings
  • Manage daily work schedules
  • Address issues from field activities
  • Perform equipment calibrations/certifications

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of related materials testing experience
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Degree in Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in concrete testing
  • Experience in the use of a nuclear densometer
  • Experience in aggregate sampling and laboratory test procedures
  • Experience in rebar inspection is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills and analytical abilities
  • Technical competence and attention to detail
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts and willingness to work in remote sites for extended periods of time
  • A valid driver's license is required for this position
