Principal Software Engineer

CoStar Group, Inc. is a leading global provider of commercial and residential real estate information, analytics, and online marketplaces. We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our team.

About the Role

This is a key leadership position that will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of our software development team. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of large-scale software systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and develop technical solutions that meet those needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of software systems, including architecture, coding, and testing
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to identify business requirements and develop technical solutions
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and code reviews
  • Participate in code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high-quality code
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply that knowledge to improve our software systems
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience as a software architect or lead engineer
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture, and development methodologies
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least one programming language, such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with test data management design patterns and implementations in a cloud environment
  • Experience with applying enterprise data management, reference data management, and master data management
  • Understanding of analytic frameworks, AI, machine learning, neural networks, or deep learning techniques to solve business problems
